The Divine Invitation to Stillness
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
My Beloved,
Rest is the . It is not laziness or escape but a sacred act of trust—a willingness to cease our striving and to abide in the presence of God. I have walked this path for many years, and I have learned that rest is not a luxury—it is a necessity. It is the rhythm of a life that is aligned with God’s grace, the pause that renews our strength, and the trust that He is in control.
In The Mystical Order, we do not glorify busyness. We embrace rest, for we know that it is in the stillness that we hear God’s voice, that we are refreshed by His Spirit, and that we are prepared for the work He calls us to do. Rest is not the absence of labour but the presence of God in the midst of it.
But let me share a truth I have learned: Rest is an act of faith. It is the willingness to trust that God will provide, that He will sustain, and that He will accomplish His purposes in His time. Rest is the antidote to anxiety, the remedy for burnout, and the source of true renewal.
Ask yourself: Am I making space for rest in my life, or am I constantly striving in my own strength? True rest is not about escaping responsibility but about trusting God’s sovereignty.
With a Heart of Rest,
Queen Abbess Patricia
