Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Today, I want to address a difficult and sensitive topic that affects us all: sexual abuse in the church. This issue has been hidden for far too long, and it's time we bring it to light and create a safe environment for all members.
Sexual abuse is a betrayal of trust and a sinful misuse of power. It's unacceptable when clergy, leaders, or members exploit their position to harm others. We must create a culture of accountability, transparency, and zero tolerance for abuse.
If you've experienced sexual abuse in the church, know that you're not alone, and it's not your fault. Your story matters, and we believe you. We're here to support and walk with you on your healing journey.
To prevent abuse, we must educate ourselves and our communities. We must also implement policies and procedures for reporting and addressing allegations. Offenders must be held accountable, and victims must receive justice and care.
Let's work together to create a safe and holy environment where everyone can worship and serve without fear. Let's shine the light of truth and righteousness on this dark issue and bring healing and restoration to those affected.
May God guide and empower us on this journey of justice and compassion.
Sincerely,
Patriarch Godfrey Gregg
