Caring for God’s Creation
By Archbishop and Presiding Prelate Hon. Andres B. Quow
Beloved in the Lord,
The Earth is not ours to exploit; it is a gift from God, entrusted to our care. From the very beginning, humanity was given the responsibility to “work the land and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15). Environmental stewardship is not a political issue; it is by caring for the world He has created.
The Scriptures reveal that all creation belongs to God (Psalm 24:1) and that He delights in its beauty and diversity. When we neglect or harm the environment, we dishonour the Creator and disrupt the balance He intended. The Apostle Paul reminds us that (Romans 8:22), a reminder that our actions have consequences not just for us but for the entire created order.
Environmental stewardship is an act of worship. It means using resources wisely, reducing waste, and . It means recognizing that our choices—whether in consumption, energy use, or conservation—reflect our values and our commitment to God’s purposes. As believers, we are called to lead by example, demonstrating that caring for creation is an expression of our love for God and our neighbours.
Let us, therefore, embrace our call to environmental stewardship. Let us care for the Earth with gratitude, wisdom, and humility, recognizing that we are but stewards of God’s creation. For in doing so, we honour Him, preserve His gifts for future generations, and bear witness to His love for all He has made.
